Dania Majid, Hon. B.Sc., LL.B., M.E.S. is one of ACLA's founders. Called to the Ontario Bar in 2004, she is currently working for the government of Ontario in the environmental field. Previous experience includes working at a legal aid clinic in Toronto and a legal non-profit organization. She recently co-authored the chapter on gender-based violence in schools for the School Community Safety Advisory Panel chaired by lawyer Julian Falconer.   Dania studied biology at the University of Toronto, completed her Masters of Environmental Studies in international trade at York University, and obtained her law degree at Osgoode Hall Law School where she founded the Arab Law Students Association. She has been an activist for the Arab community for many years and sat on the Executive Committee of the Canadian Arab Federation for two years. Dania currently represents ACLA on the Equity Advisory Group of the Law Society of Upper Canada.


Ameena Sultan, Hon. B.A., LL.B. is one of ACLA's founders. She works for Swadron Associates, a firm that focuses on mental health and constitutional law. She completed her undergraduate studies in political science and biology at the University of Toronto before studying law at McGill University. Ameena interned with the Palestine Peace Project in the West Bank as part of a group of law students and lawyers from around North America. Ameena articled with a trade union and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2002. She speaks Arabic, French and Spanish. Ameena has been a long-time volunteer with the Canadian Arab Federation, the Arab Community Centre of Toronto and currently sits on the board of Sojourn House.


Tarek Hamam, Hon. B.A., LL.B. majored in International Relations and Commerce at the University of Toronto. After graduating with high distinction, he was admitted to Osgoode Hall Law School. At Osgoode Hall, Tarek served as a division leader for the student-run legal-aid clinic (CLASP) and participated in student government. Tarek also served as a mentor for high school students and was the recipient of the John Yaremko Q.C. Scholarship for academic excellence in the study of Human Rights, Civil Liberties, and the Rule of Law. Tarek is completing his articles with a leading criminal defence firm in Toronto, and will be called to the bar in June 2008. Tarek has lived in the Middle East and is fluent in Arabic.


Zahra Binbrek, Hon. B.A. is in her final year of law school at the University of Windsor. After completing her undergraduate studies in International Development at the University of Guelph in 2000, she worked at the Canadian Arab Federation in Toronto. She managed settlement programs for newcomers to Canada and various community projects related to access and equity, civic engagement and organizational capacity. After completing her first year of law school she was awarded a Windsor Law Alumni Social Justice Fellowship and completed her placement at the African Canadian Legal Clinic. She has also worked and completed an academic term at Legal Assistance of Windsor. As a law student, she has been a leading advocate against homophobia and racism on campus. Zahra will commence her articles in the fall 2008 with a leading human rights firm in Toronto.
